Reyna received a positive referral from her teacher. She is a kind and thoughtful student. When she noticed that some students didn't bring cupcakes for their birthday, she asked her parents to bring some for them. What a nice young lady!

These two guys were the first students to use our new ball pit, which is designed from something we saw called, "Take a seat, make a friend." Excited to see kids use this, and make friends on campus.

Here's what Ms. Hardin's Transitional Kindergarten has done for Social Emotional Learning. Students put hearts on their kindness tree. When the students perform acts of kindness, they color a heart and put it on the tree. This is one way kindness is encouraged in the classroom.
Here are some kids who had fun while learning- Mrs. Dynes' 2nd graders. After learning about the properties of materials used for clothing, they had to design and build hats to survive on a desert island. Great job, kiddos!

For Social Emotional Learning in first grade, Ms. Jones' class has morning meetings where they discuss positive character traits and feelings of the day. These meetings help students learn about each other, become more supportive, and build a community. Great to see!
Meet Darian. She received a positive referral from her teacher because she has been so helpful with a new student in her class. She automatically stepped in to help the student feel comfortable, translated lessons, and became a friend. Thanks, Darian! You make us proud. :)
Congratulations to Julian, our first "Attendance Hero" (Here Everyday Ready and On Time). Every week, we'll choose 1 random student who was here every day from the prior week, and reward them. HUSD will be closed in olbservance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Schools and the district office will be closed Monday, January 15th 2024 and reopen Tuesday, January 16, 2024.
Today was our Medals assemblies for students who completed 90% of their work on time, had no office referrals, and had no more than five combined tardies, early outs, or tardies for the 1st semester. They watched the magician, California Joe, and loved it! Next one is in May.
