PARENT INVOLVEMENT

Parent Volunteers are always welcome! Mesa Grande is a busy place and there are many opportunities available to support student learning.

To keep our students, staff, and visitors safe, the school district requires a completed Volunteer Form (English / Español) and approval from the school board before volunteers may help on campus or chaperone on a field trip. To learn more, please contact your child’s teacher or the front office. When you arrive at our school to volunteer, you will need to sign in at the office to get a visitor’s badge. You will also need to sign out when leaving campus. This is to ensure the safety of our children. We need to know how many people (students, staff, and visitors) are on campus in case of an emergency.

English Language Learning Advisory Council (ELAC)

ELAC meetings are designed to address the needs of English Language Learners and their families. We address a variety of topics such as report cards, curriculum, and school programs. At Mesa Grande, we hold meetings in October, December, February, and April. Watch for information regarding these meetings on social media and our website live feed.

District ELAC meetings are held four times a year at 6:30 p.m. in the Multilingual Services Building at the HUSD Administration & Educational Support Center on Main Street. Childcare is available.

School Site Council (SCC)

The School Site Council looks at student data, identifies student needs, and develops the School Plan for Student Achievement while monitoring the school site’s categorical budgets. The Council is made up of parents, teachers, classified staff, community members, and administrators. Elections are held every two years to elect new representatives to serve. If you wish to join the council, please send in your name to be added to the ballot. The SSC meets at 3:00pm every other month. Parent Teacher Student Club (PTSC)

The PTSC sponsors assemblies, school fundraisers, special events, book fairs, and much, much more for all students at Mesa Grande. The PTSC is constantly looking for more volunteers and they always have many opportunities for involvement. Come on out and get involved!
